Try it on Saturday. Keep it by Christmas.
Rent-to-buy, built in. Customers rent first. When they decide to keep it, the fees they've paid come off the price, under rules you set once, on the same order.
Work it out for one of yours.
Pick an item, add rentals, and choose how generous you want to be. This is the same calculation Rentiqly does on the order.
Both.
Rent-to-buy is where the two halves meet. On day 40, the bike that went out eleven times goes home for good, and the rental fees come off the price. One order, one history, rules you set once.
How it works.
Four steps, and the first one is just renting.
Set the rules once
Per product or category: what share of each rental counts, the cap on the credit, and how long rentals stay eligible.
Customers rent as usual
Nothing changes for them. Every rental is recorded against the product, ready to count later.
They decide to keep it
At the counter, staff convert the order. Online, the customer pays the balance from their account.
The sale lands on the same record
Credit applied, balance paid into your Stripe, a VAT invoice issued, and the conversion shows up in your reports.
Why shops use it.
People rent to try expensive things: a bike, a camera, a stroller. A good rental is the best sales pitch you have. Rent-to-buy turns it into a sale instead of a lost customer who goes and buys online.
Most rental software has no way to do this, so shops fake it with discount codes and a note in a spreadsheet. In Rentiqly it is one button on the order, and every conversion is tracked.
Questions.
Is the rented item the one they buy?
Your choice, per product. Customers can buy the unit they rented, or a new one from stock while the rented unit stays in your fleet. If you sell from new stock, it is reserved the moment the conversion starts, so you can never sell what you don't have.
Can customers do it online?
Yes. A signed-in customer sees a "Pay purchase balance" button on their order and pays the rest by card. At the counter, staff convert the order and the customer pays on the spot.
What if the rental fees cover the whole price?
Then there is nothing left to pay. The conversion completes without a card payment, and the sale lands on the order like any other.
How is it taxed and invoiced?
The sale gets its own VAT invoice in your number series, with the rental credit shown on it. Rentals already invoiced stay as they are.
Do I need a higher plan?
No. Rent-to-buy is in every plan, Core included.
