Products, variants and units
Three levels, from general to specific:
- Product: what customers see. "Trek Marlin 7", with its description, photos and specifications.
- Variant: what differs between versions. Size M, size L. Each variant has its own prices, barcode and stock.
- Unit: one physical item you rent out, with its own asset tag, location and status. Bike number 4 of the six size-M bikes.
Things you only sell don't need units. You keep a stock count per location instead.
Add a product
Create it
Open Manage → Catalog, choose New product, give it a name and pick a mode: rent, sell, or both. Not sure which? See Rent, sell or both.
Put it in a category
Categories can be nested three levels deep. They group your storefront, and they carry the return checklist and cleaning buffer for everything inside them.
Add prices
Rental prices can be set per hour, day or week. Rentiqly picks the best price for the customer automatically, so a five-day rental never costs more than a week. Products you sell get a shelf price.
Add variants, units and stock
Add sizes or colours as variants. Then add units for rentals, each at a location, or a stock count per location for sales.
Add photos and specifications
Upload a gallery and fill in specifications from your attribute library, like frame size or sensor type. Customers can filter by them in your store.
Editing happens where you are: press Edit on any product, unit, price or location and the form opens in place.
Kits and bundles
A kit sells or rents several products together, like a camera with lenses and batteries. A kit is available only when every part is, so you never promise a case you can't fill.
Importing a catalogue
Already have a spreadsheet, or an export from another system? Import products, variants and units from CSV, and export everything back out whenever you like.
Moving from another system? Send us your export and we'll do the import for you, free, including customers and upcoming bookings. Get in touch.
Starter templates
If you'd rather start from an example, install a starter template for your trade from the Set up checklist. It adds sample categories, products and prices that you edit or delete.
